Team

Our People

Aware of the under-current, we are focused on what is driving momentum below the surface. At the individual, team, group, organisational and systemic level. We believe context is everything. Working with this nuance and complexity to get to the raw power of creativity and awareness requires a particular calibre of thinking partner. It's not black and white, things are connected. It's usually shades of grey which are always moving.

You will meet our Founder Heather Frost and learn more about our associates, collaborations and partners. Through our network, we can pull in the right resources and approaches. This approach to working with clients fits with the People and Practice philosophy. Be like water. Move fast, be fluid. Know when to be powerful or calm to create ground swell for movement and change.

This is not a conservative way to work. Deliberately, we focus on pulling in the right people at the right time. This isn't a culture of tick boxes and plug and play coaching, mentoring and consulting. When we know what you need, and we trust you are willing to do the meaningful work, we create the conditions for this to happen. Our people become the conduit for your change. You carve out the space to expand your thinking and experience. We create the conditions for you to develop and grow. You know this is true, because we don't work with everyone. We need to trust that you are willing to do the real work below the surface to get to what matters most.

Our Founder - Heather Frost

Heather is the founder and Director of People and Practice. Described as an oasis of calm, strategic glue, the human face of strategy, mentor, facilitator, guide, advisor, agitator and most of all coach, Heather builds connection and creates the cadence and conditions for change. Simply put; people think better in her presence.

Heather is the Founder and Director of People and Practice, Co-founder of Think Perspective and Visiting Tutor at Henley Business School. She has over 20 years of experience of experience in behaviour change; coaching, mentoring, training, and consulting to clients including Deloitte, Oxentia, Accenture and Kantar. Deeply driven to understand different cultures and the systems which influence behaviour, Heather has lived as a resident in four countries and travelled extensively to over forty countries. Her commercial work with organisations, executives, leaders, and teams incorporates her global experience and expertise in culture change, business transformation, learning and development, organisational development, leadership development, and systemic change.

Heather holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (BPsych) with a minor in Philosophy, a Master of Science in Coaching & Behavioural Change (MSc) and is currently a Doctoral Researcher (PhD) in Leadership, Organisations and Behaviour at Henley Business School. Heather won a fully funded scholarship through the Henley Business School flagship "World of Work" award. Heather's research and coaching focuses on the link between self-awareness, meta-cognition, consciousness, sense of agency, quality of thought, beliefs, culture, purpose, and behaviour: ultimately how individuals "act" and behave. Her newly developed psychological scale which measures the Concept-of-Self, upcoming published work, writing, and training helps coaches understand how their “self” and the self of their client’s manifest and interact. Her research explores practitioner self-deception, bias and self-delusion, the self-as-instrument, mindfulness, neuroscience and meaning in life.

Heather is a certified Lumina Learning Practitioner, an accredited coach with the International Coaching Federation (ACC) and Senior Practitioner with the European Mentoring & Coaching Council (EMCC). She holds the following certifications from INSEAD: Leading Organisations in Disruptive Times, Innovation in the Age of Disruption, Strategy in the Age of Digital Disruption and Leading in a Transforming World. She is a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt from PMI (CSSGB). Heather is also an Advanced Practitioner of Breakthrough Coaching (WBECS/coaching.com) and Visiting Tutor at Henley Business School teaching the triple accredited Professional Certificate of Executive Coaching (PCEC).

Strategy in the Age of Digital Disruption

Develop effective strategies for a digital age.

In the last 10 years two of Heather's main clients were facing digital disruption before it had a name or consulting firms knew how to face or solve it.  Curious about how education after experience might change her knowledge, Heather began this programme.

This qualification covered how digital is transforming the industry value chain, patterns of demand and competitive pressures. This included leveraging digital to develop compelling value propositions turning a threat into an opportunity. Emphasis on execution also meant alignment across the organisation, AI, strategic agility for a digital world and sustainability were part of the programme. Heather applied this knowledge to a case study of how digital was disrupting the coaching industry.

Innovation in the Age of Disruption

Learn to innovate in a disruptive, uncertain world.

This course equipped Heather with a deeply practical toolkit which forms part of her innovation coaching and facilitation/workshops for the Innovators Method. During the programme, Heather also developed a case study and rapid experimentation to test how coaching and leadership development before executive teams kick-off a transformation can enable more effective change. This is now one of the solutions offered by People and Practice.

The content covered 3 key areas. People and developing an innovative mindset across the organisation. Process, problem solving and experimentation. Finally, the third area connected to the philosophy of fostering innovation in organisations.

Drive faster decision-making, accelerate change processes and cut through difficult cultural challenges.

Having worked in organisational leadership development for nearly 20 years, Heather began this programme from a standpoint of ensuring she was utilising the most relevant research and cutting edge approaches.

The content across the programme was based on four key challenges and practical tools to answer them. The Decision Challenge; fair-process leadership. The change challenge; leading formal change. The political challenge, networks and influence. The culture and integration challenge; organisations in a digital age.

"Qualifications are not about assumed capability, they are not the same thing in the coaching world."

It's the fusion of exposure, education and experience to challenge assumptions. To always be slightly uncomfortable. Perspective seeking, and deliberately provoking thought. Therefore, constant learning is the way to always be on the edge, forever in the beginners mind and never done. This is the foundation of nuanced thinking and a core ethos of People and Practice. Whether learning through new experiences, exposure to something different or education, for Heather this starts with being comfortable that mastery in anything is getting great at always challenging your assumptions of what you know. You can read a book, but you need to know how to read a room. This is instilled in all aspects of the philosophy of People and Practice.

I wanted to build on my academic studies for standard coach training to really tap into the head, heart and gut side of coaching. Less on tools and techniques and more on the coach as the instrument. This 6 month practical programme of study with Dr Marcia Reynolds through WBECS (World Business Executive Coaching Summit) was brilliant. A great expansion of my capability to use myself to enable transformation in others.

It is important that I am always keeping my "global muscle" flexed and ensure I am being exposed to coaches around the world.

International Accreditation

Heather has been coaching for nearly 20 years, however she recognises that global clients who have not been directly referred or know the calibre of her education may like the assurance of a standardised process. The ICF (International Coaching Federation) is well understood around the world and this badge gives an assurance of assessment by a governing body outside of educational and training schools. Heather is a member of the ICF, and an Accredited Certified Coach (ACC). Download the ICF Code of Ethics here.

Heather is a Senior Practitioner with the EMCC Global (European Mentoring & Coaching Council). This represents the experience since Heather gained her degree in Psychology in 2004 coaching and mentoring clients. You can download the EMCC Code of Ethics here

To understand more about how the accreditation fits with the coaching approach of the Associates at People and Practice, contact us at info@peopleandpractice.co.uk. A badge is great, but it doesn't represent the complete experience of our coaches. Reach out to learn more.

Our Associates

All of our coaches are qualified and accredited with global experience. Even more importantly, they understand the nuance between people and practice. The fusion between what we think and feel, with what we do. The science behind what drives behaviour and the presence to enable you to recognise what you really want. In other words, our coaches won't walk into a session with a set view or plan. What they will do, is meet you in the moment and be equipped to partner with you based on what will create the best conditions for change.

Our Collaboration

Quality coach training has a knock-on effect; the coach becomes more self-aware just by learning the skills. It becomes obvious the impact we have on others; how they think and feel while we are with them and long after the interaction. One poor interaction can disrupt a day or a team. Equally, a person who understands this impact, can change the dynamic in the room for the better.

We got curious about how to build this coaching muscle. Imagine if every team had one person who could shift the thinking space in a more productive way. So, we created a programme designed to build this muscle and training to sustain it. A People and Practice collaboration with Rudd Coaching was born called Think Perspective. We need to over-ride automatic urges like muscle memory and create ways every day to flex this capability until it becomes just the way we work.
